Train Trip to Centralia
We are so excited to be able to take this trip with our students on Thursday, April 19. We have nearly all the permission slips back, but if you have not yet turned in the white permission slip, please be sure to return it to the school. It is very important that we leave at 6:30 that morning so that we are at the station in plenty of time to board the train. At the same time, keep in mind that you should not need to arrive at the school prior to 6:15 either. The funds that we raised at the Easter breakfast are covering the cost of this trip. We will be eating a quick & early lunch at Burger King since it is just a few blocks from the train station. Be sure to advise your child ahead of time that it will be very important for us to be back to the train station in time to board our noon train back to Carbondale because if we miss that train we’ll need you to come rescue us. So, it will be very important for them to listen and walk in a timely fashion on that day.
Track Meet Fridays
It is hard to believe that it is already that time of the year (probably because the weather can’t decide if it is spring or winter), but a week from today is our K-4 Track Meet. Even though we do not have several of the younger grades, St. John and Immanuel will still be bringing plenty of kids down. We will start the events shortly after they arrive so that we can be finished in time for Immanuel to get back for an early dismissal as well as so we are done for an early dismissal. There will be 12:30 busses that day if your child is in need of them.
We will be holding registration for 2018-2019 throughout the month of May. Since it is extremely important to know how many students we should expect for the fall, we require that all registrations be done by the last day of May. That means you may stop by the office whenever you have available to fill out the paperwork. If you need to make special arrangements, please call for us to set up a special time. Remember if tuition cost is a concern to you, no matter what your income, you may be eligible for a scholarship for our school through Empower Illinois. Find out more and get in line for an application at htt
Reading Counts is Wrapping Up
The last day that we will be doing prizes will be May 3. That way we have time to get in our sock hop and pizza party. Please encourage your child to keep reading until that time and finish up any large books they have been working on. Also the last day to turn in book orders for the year is April 23.
Lunch bills went home last week which go through the end of the school year. Please look for these bills and make your final payments so that we can get our payments made.
Would anyone be interested in sponsoring our news program? We will gladly let everyone know that our news is being brought to you that week by your business. For just $3/week we can boost our news program to Facebook viewers in our general area. It could be a great way to advertise our school and activities (play) as well as your business.
To See A Miracle DVD
If you missed our performance last week or would just like a keepsake, you may purchase a DVD copy of it in the office for $5.
Look Us Up On Facebook
You will find a link on our website or search for Kay Hall and find a link to the Christ Lutheran School page. Feel free to spread the word to grandparents, so they can keep up, too. It also helps to have you like the postings so that we are sure that people are seeing them. You’ll definitely want to catch our newest postings starting on Fridays!
Shoes and the Gym Floor
We have been having a lot more problems with shoes leaving marks on the gym floor this year. Please be sure that your child’s shoes are not causing those scuffs, and if they are please send other shoes for them to wear at recess/PE time.
Don't Forget to Upload Your Pictures to the Yearbook Site
Remember you can upload pictures for the yearbook committee to use in the 2015-2016 yearbook at Shutterfly.com. The log in for the school account is email@example.com. The password is yearbook.
After School Care
Mrs. Kettner is doing our after school care this year. If you need to contact her, please try both the school number (in case she is in the gym) and/or her cell number 618-534-6526 (in case she is outside). Pleaqse send a note if you know in advance that you child(ren) will be going home a different way than usual. Thank you for your help in making her job easier.
PTL Sign Up Sheets
The sign up sheet for parent volunteers at our PTL functions are available on the bulletin board in the front hallway. Each family needs to sign up to help with at least one activity. There are limited spots so the sooner you sign up for your event the better.
